Most wanted this holiday season

According to the findings of Ebates 2012 Holiday Wish List Survey, conducted online in the US by Harris Interactive of 1,121 youth aged 8-18 discovered that kids rank the gifts they want to receive this holiday in the following order:
  • A laptop computer (17%)
  • The latest iPhone (15%)
  • Clothes (11%)
  • A 10-inch tablet (iPad or the Motorola Xoom) (9%)
  • The latest Android Smartphone (6%)
  • Latest mini tablet (5%)
  • e-Readers (Nook or Kindle) (4%)

Color Could Improve Learning and Boost Student Performance

Color is surprisingly absent in classroom handouts, according to a survey commissioned by Xerox of students in grades 3-12. In fact, seven in ten noted that very few or none of their handouts have pictures (72 percent) or charts or graphs (69 percent) in color.
Color has been shown to have an impact on comprehension, and students agree. A majority who receive copies at school believe that words or pictures in color would help make schoolwork more interesting (77 percent agree, including 26 percent who strongly agree) and homework more fun to do (70 percent agree, including 25 percent who strongly agree).

YouTube For Schools Launched

One of the biggest issues any parent looking to help his/her kids out with learning Math will tell you how though it is to find good resources on the internet. YouTube for Schools provides access to hundreds of thousands of free educational videos from YouTube EDU.

Free App: The Scroll – First Chapter released

The Scroll – First Chapter” is a free Math game / application on the Apple Store, targeting children aged 11-14. Basically, it's a workbook blending a captivating story set in the frame of mysterious Transylvania with interactive, exercises that are aligned with the curriculum standards. The exercises are integral part of the story and are woven into the plot of the tale.

[Free Download] I Love Math Wallpaper and Sheet

I was thinking of a way to encourage my young kid to keep trying with those math sheets at school, and came up with this idea. I commissioned a talented artist to draw me a wallpaper saying I Love Math, for my kid to use as a wallpaper for the PC, and for hanging on the bedroom's wall.
